Privacy Policy


 

This Privacy Policy governs the processing of your personal data by the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth (MoESY) in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Law on the Protection of Individuals Against the Processing of Personal Data and the Free Movement of Such Data of the Republic of Cyprus (Law No. 125(I) of 2018).


 

Purpose of Data Processing

As part of the initiative to improve administrative processes in education, MoESY has implemented a comprehensive electronic Administration of Education system (eΔΕΑ). This system aims to enhance communication, collaboration, and support at all levels of education through effective information management and automation.


MoESY processes personal data for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes without any further processing in a manner incompatible with these purposes.


The processing focuses on the following areas:

  • Creation of parent/guardian accounts and electronic profiles throughout the school year of their children until their graduation.

  • Creation of student accounts and electronic profiles throughout the school years until their graduation.

  • Electronic registrations and transfers of students and other applications that may be submitted for educational matters.

  • Management of courses, monitoring of performance and absences during their attendance in Public Schools.

  • Creation of teacher accounts and electronic profiles throughout their employment in Public Education.

  • Management of administrative procedures in all Public Schools.


 

Storage of Personal Data

The data of the e eΔΕΑ system are stored in Data Centers within the Republic of Cyprus, with TIER IIII level specifications and certified with ISO 27001 .


Your personal data is processed only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described above.


 

Your Rights

You have the right, under specific conditions, to request from the Data Controller without undue delay the correction of inaccurate personal data concerning you, by providing proof of the erroneous nature of the data for which you request correction.


You have the right, under specific conditions, to request the deletion of data concerning you if this data is no longer necessary based on the purpose described above.


You have the right, under specific conditions, to request the restriction of data processing. Rights are exercised by submitting a relevant written request to the Data Protection Officer.


 

Νotification of Changes

The Data Controller notifies each recipient to whom personal data has been disclosed of any correction or deletion of personal data or restriction of processing that is carried out. The Data Controller informs you about these recipients if requested.


 

Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

You have the right, if you believe that any of your rights have been violated or if you consider that the processing of personal data concerning you violates the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to lodge a complaint with the competent Supervisory Authority (Commissioner for Personal Data Protection).
